Is A College Degree Worth It?

So you’re unsure if a college degree is worth it? First, worth what? Worth the money you are about to invest? Worth the time? Worth the hassle? I’m going to assume your biggest concern is about the money; is a college degree worth all the money you have to spend. Well firstly, there are tons of scholarships and grants that will help you pay off that college degree and decrease that debt once you have completed school. Just take a moment and refer back to that common sense. If a college degree wasn’t worth it, would businesses, schools and the government give you money just to help you and encourage you to accomplish that post-secondary goal of yours, so you can work your dream job? Common sense – of course it is worth it. It’s worth it even if you were to pay for it completely by yourself. It’s all about your accomplishments, goals and happiness. If you thrive on the thought of flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant for the rest of your life, maybe a college degree isn’t worth it, but in all honestly… if that is your goal and dream job, you need to think about the future of your life with a minimum wage and repetitive job working with teenagers for the rest of your life.

I know that a lot of people have gone to school just to have that degree/diploma under their belt. It makes your resume look better and it shows your commitment and determination as well as intelligence to potential employers. In this case, again, yes a college degree is worth it. It is going to help you be successful.

Speaking of success, it is proven that people with a degree earn more money. This kind of relates to my last point. It looks better to potential employers, which is going to get you that job instead of the guy sitting next to you in the interview room that never went to college.

SO you tell me, are you still wondering if a college degree is worth it? It depends how much you crave happiness and success. If you are content with having a dead-end, minimum wage job for the rest of your life, then sure – you don’t need a college degree for that… but is that really what you want? You can be anything you want to be. Remember that. I promise you that it will be worth it!
